Now the FTC too is worried about bad patents.

People have been complaining about this for 15 years. What took them so long.
One of the problems is the dedicated patent court.
Their rulings (software and business plan patents) are evidence of the old axion that, "When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail."
On an unrelated bummer note, SF author and artist Harry (Hal Clement) Stubbs died in his sleep last night.
